Tour of Somerville

Can you guess where the oldest race in American bicycling history occurs? No, it’s not in New York, Philadelphia, or even Washington, D.C. It’s Somerville, New Jersey, home to the Tour of Somerville! This cycling event has taken place on Memorial Day Weekend for 70 years! Started by a Somerville resident who wanted to promote a bike "tour" in his hometown, the tour has grown from its humble beginnings to a race between top national competitors, Olympians, and professional cyclists alike.

If one day of racing isn't enough for you, be sure to check out the Raritan Race on Saturday, May 25th, which features a 75-mile race for the professionals and four short-course races in Bound Brook. Saturday's events also include family fun rides and a 5-K.

Join the crowds celebrating one of the most prestigious bicycling events, or race yourself! Either way, it’s a fun, classic Somerset County way of celebrating Memorial Day. The big race happens on Monday, May 27th!
