Winter Warm-Up

The Super Bowl may be over soon (by the way, did you know it's coming to NJ in 2014!?), but don’t let that get you down. Keep the sports love going by visiting these energetic places all over Somerset County!

Hold onto your Super Bowl euphoria well into February by visiting some of Somerset County’s best sports bars and restaurants. South Side Grill and Tavern, located in South Bound Brook, is one delicious option to try and their wings are legendary. Or try The Club House Sports Bar, located over Mannion’s Pub and Restaurant in Somerville, another great location to cheer away your winter blues. With 8 HD TVs, your every sports need is covered.

If you’d rather play a sport than watch it, Somerset County has plenty of great options to choose from. Bridgewater Sports Arena has open skate and open hockey times for winter sports lovers to get active. Duke Farms, three times the size of Central Park, is open all winter long for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Zoned Sports Academy is great for getting your youngster prepared for the spring sports season and offers camps, classes, personal lessons, and special clinics with Big-League names. Branchburg Sports Complex offers it all, with fitness classes, sports leagues, a one-of-a-kind PlayMaze, and a Laser Tag Arena. Get your family up and out, all while staying warm.

If you’ve watched and played all the sports you can this winter, and you're still looking for more, it’s time to check out the USGA Museum. The USGA Museum has called Far Hills home since 1972 and is one a Somerset County treasure. Check out the golf memorabilia spanning decades in the Museum, then visit the Research and Test Center to learn about the extensive tests and trials every type of modern golf equipment must endure.

Another true Somerset County athletic pursuit is of the equine kind. Our heritage can be traced to a grand equestrian tradition, including The Far Hills Race Meeting ("the Hunt"), the home of the U.S. Equestrian Team Headquarters and horse farms galore. Take a trail ride or treat your Valentine to a special holiday ride at Lord Stirling Stable to see what the fuss is all about.

Don’t let February pass without enjoying the athletic side of Somerset County!
