Take the VIP Tour
In July, we had the exciting opportunity to show off some of our top attractions to VIPs from the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism, New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority, Somerset County and tourism folks from surrounding counties. What might surprise you is that you, too can be a VIP in Somerset County. Just check out these great places...
Our first stop was Duke Farms, newly opened to the public this past May. With a new Orientation Center and more than 1,000 thousand acres to explore, we could have easily spent a day or two on this 2,700-acre estate! Guests learned that Duke Farms' mission is to promote environmental steweardship as well as recreation. Guests may go there to play, learn or simply wander the vast, breathtaking property.
The second stop on our tour was another key Somerset County attraction, the USGA Museum. The museum campus is a sprawling property in Far Hills that hosts a Research and Test Center, Museum and putting course. The Research and Test Center is golf-oriented laboratory where all golf equipment on the market undergoes a battery of testing. The Pynes Putting Course is modeled after the legendary original golf course in St. Andrews, Scotland. The Museum itself, with its Hall of Champions and huge collection of golf memorabilia, takes visitors through several eras of golfing history, during which women and minorities joined the game and a space club went to the moon!
Be sure to visit the websites of these fascinating destinations for more details, hours and admission fess (Duke Farms is FREE!). Don't miss the chance to tour Somerset County like NJ's top tourism VIPs!
